We love talking about different ways to save money or make money on this site. One of the best ways to save money is to do a little DIY for yourself. I love DIY because it can save me money and it can be a great source of cheaper entertainment.
In this article, I’ll show you some of my favorite DIY projects that you can do this weekend.
Mason Jar Craft Projects
There is something so simple and special about mason jars. They can be your favorite drinking glass, your favorite holder-of-things. You can even create special lighting with them. Oh, and they happen to preserve food pretty well. Pretty much whatever you’re looking to do around your house, chances are a mason jar can help out.
Here are a few projects to get your started with diy mason jar projects.

DIY Leather Bracelets
There’s so much you can do with old belts and a dremel tool. These crafts show you how to make leather bracelets and you can go as simple or as ornate as you want.

DIY Bamboo Projects
Our neighbor has a ton of bamboo in his backyard. It’s great for shading things, but there is a patch that grows over to our side and covers an area that we use for our plants. So we cut it back every so often.
The problem?
We have a ton of bamboo that we don’t know what to do with. Side note: Don’t ever try to burn bamboo. The air pockets in the shafts release with the heat and sound like a gun going off.

Wine Cork Board
Do you have several wine corks that you’ve collected over the months and wonder what you can do with them? Here’s a great weekend project to do with all of them and it will encourage you to collect more.

There is something so special about lighting. It can totally set the mood in an area, allow you to find and get a splinter out of your hand, and just let you see to read your favorite book. I’m teased often about how important lighting is for me and in another life, I might come back as a lamp maker.

DIY Dorm Decor
Are you working on your poor college student lifestyle? Here’s a list of great diy projects you can do this weekend to turn the drab looking college dorm into a cozy home this weekend. And sidenote: Some of these are great even for those of us who aren’t living in a college dorm.

The granddaddy projects of them all. The famous pallet projects. Don’t worry, this list doesn’t include building a house with your pallets. Although, I would love to do that project one year.
You probably have a pallet laying around or know where to get some easily. We have one outside right now from a Lowe’s delivery. Spend the weekend transforming that piece of wood into something useful.

DIY Outdoor Furniture
Looking at this list, we’ve probably done most of our DIY projects in this arena. From making a chaise lounge, to modern style chairs, outdoor firepit, outdoor concrete counter top kitchen. It’s just so much fun to build things outside. I think you also feel like it doesn’t have to be as perfect because your stuff is out in the elements anyway.

Honestly, some of these bed frames are super easy to put together. But the fact that it’s a bed frame will give you extra points simply because it’s real, inside furniture. And with a bed frame, you’re really working on a very intimate piece of furniture that you spend a lot of time in and on.
